BuzziTent: An Architectural Ceiling Element for Acoustic Calm

There is an inherent sense of shelter under a tent that encourages people to slow down. Designed by Alain Gilles, BuzziTent captures that feeling into a high-performance PET felt acoustic panel suspended from a central architectural ridge. Inspired by the French guinguette, those breezy, open-air cafés where a simple structure defines the atmosphere, BuzziTent brings organic warmth and acoustic comfort to the modern workspace.

Whether specified as a singular statement piece or installed in a repeating sequence, BuzziTent transforms a room's volume. When arranged in rhythm, the ceiling takes on a new architectural language, guiding movement, defining zones, and creating a stronger sense of place. 

Soft on the Eye, Tough on Noise

BuzziTent delivers professional-grade mid-to-high frequency acoustic absorption for high-traffic environments. Perfectly suited for open-plan offices, hospitality venues, and collaborative hubs, its suspended design places acoustic performance exactly where sound accumulates most: overhead.

The result is a quieter environment without sacrificing openness, ceiling height, or architectural lightness. 

Set the Scene with Integrated Lighting

For projects requiring both acoustic comfort and illumination, BuzziTent Light combines sound absorption with adjustable architectural lighting in one integrated solution.

A unique feature of BuzziTent Light is the ability to control the atmosphere by adjusting the distance between the integrated LED Line Glow 140 and the PET felt structure.

Diffuse: Increase the distance for a soft, warm ambient glow.

Direct: Bring the light closer for a more focused and functional architectural beam. 

A Masterclass in Circular Design

BuzziTent is designed with circularity at its core. Most of the solution's components can be disassembled and recycled, allowing every component to be separated and re-enter the material stream at the end of its life cycle.

Crafted from 60% recycled PET felt, it gives new purpose to post-consumer plastics while delivering long-term acoustic performance. 

Create a Continuous Canopy

Elevate your interior with the optional black ridge and connector system. Available for both BuzziTent and BuzziTent Light, the black ridge creates a stronger architectural expression, while the connector allows individual panels to be linked with 30 cm spacing to form a continuous suspended ceiling composition. The result transforms standard ceilings into unified, designed surfaces with greater rhythm, structure, and visual impact.

BuzziTent is a high-performance acoustic absorber designed specifically for the human frequency range. Its suspended tent-shaped geometry creates a natural acoustic cavity that traps sound waves and significantly reduces reverberation and echo in open-plan offices and high-ceiling environments. By targeting mid-to-high frequency absorption, BuzziTent helps minimize the cocktail party effect, making it easier for people to focus, collaborate, and communicate without cognitive fatigue. Key Technical Highlights: Form Factor: The suspended geometry increases active surface area, allowing sound to be absorbed from both the interior and exterior of the PET felt panel. Placement: Ideal for suspension above workstations, meeting zones, and collaborative islands where sound accumulation is highest.
